  • Raw Sugar: It is produced only if the final refining process is by-passed.
  • Honey: Honey is the rich nectar of sugar which is collected by bees from the wide range of flowers. Glucose, sucrose, and fructose are the prime sugar content that is found in honey. Out of which, fructose is considered the sweetest one among them all. Moreover, the high content of fructose is the only reason that makes it sweet in taste. However, honey contains about 17 percent of water.

The best kind of sugar with the least calories is determined with the following factors;

  • Sweetness and Sugar content: Sugars like agave syrup and honey contain a high amount of fructose. It is also considered the sweetest one as compared to sucrose and glucose.
  • Antioxidant capacity: Sugars which are less refined and processed may have high contents of compounds and minerals; due to various levels of refining and processing. These compounds contain a high antioxidant capacity that helps to reduce damaging of the cells in the body causing chronic diseases.
  • Glycemic Index: Glycemic index is the quantity of sugar that flows in the blood. This concept is used for comparing the ability of various foods consisting of carbohydrates that gives rise to the sugar level in the blood over two hours. Moreover, pure glucose is considered as a reference carbohydrates. The high amount of glycemic index indicates the high ability of food to increase the sugar level in the blood. This may also give rise to several diseases.
